So some of my good buddies here in LA are the band Eyes Lips Eyes. They have been up to some great work and have been working hard on a "no album" concept where they release a new single and music video once a month!! It's very hard work and they rock at it! A bunch of friends have directed music videos for them and I have now been in 3 of the videos. I'm in talks to direct a video for them in the next couple months! 2 of them I'm dancing ridiculously in. So I thought I'd share the 3 I'm in with all of you on here, but feel free to watch all of their videos.

A couple of months ago, as part of a film program application process I was asked to write a list of the top 10 most influential pieces of media to me. Now let us dissect this word, influential.

- influence |ˈinfloŏəns|nounthe capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.

They wanted to know what exactly what was most influential to who I am, but mostly what was most influential to my creative and filmmaking state of mind at this moment. This was a very hard list to create! If any of you remember I was actually trying to create this exact list of favorites/influences about a year ago and posted it. It was very difficult getting that list of 29 down to 10, and I still question some of my final choices. I just kept telling myself that even though there were other items on the list that I liked more than some of these 10 it wasn't about my enjoyment or how much I wanted to represent myself as a more cultured person, but it was simply the list of most INFLUENTIAL! With that said I actually do still think I needed to have a Tim Burton movie such as Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare before Xmas, or Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Those early films of his are still to this day such a large influence to my imaginative side. In no way are these in any order, and with that said, I give you:

Top 10 Media Influences

1. The Simpsons (T.V.) - Once a week my family was brought together to watch another family on television. Their sarcasm, parodies, and originality helped me build the foundation for my sense of humor. Although I have plenty of influences for my humor I can thank The Simpsons for being the legend to my map of funny.

2. Led Zeppelin - “Over the Hills and Far Away”(Music) - The first time I remember a song causing me to “remember”. A flood of great memories of Oregon summer days, road trips with my brothers and working on the tree house with family comes to my mind when this song is played. I knew with this song that music can be more than just the present sound on the speakers.

3. Treasure Island (Book) - Probably the first time I visualized a film adaptation of a book while reading. I created actors in my mind, how they would act, what the set would look like and a mental storyboard of the action scenes. Someday I still wish to make a great film adaptation of this classic.

4. Lord of the Rings Books/Films – Both the films and books are equally influential to me for almost all the same reasons but in their own respected media. I had no idea when I read the books how expansive someone could make a fantasy history, and with the films how amazing it was to see this amazing world come alive! I absolutely loved the details in the history and maps of the books. Inspiring to me was the DVD features of the films which demonstrated how the impossible was made possible with film-making. They fueled the fire within me to become a filmmaker!

5. Moulin Rouge (Film) – a film that drove me to confess my desire to always make a musical. The colors, the energy, the emotion, the music, the storytelling and the creativity made for a wonderful package of a film. How fun is it when almost an entire script of a film is derived from favorite songs of the Director’s? Even though Ewan McGregor’s “Christian” tells the audience at the beginning of the film exactly what happens in the end you still don’t believe it when it does happen. Also this film contains, in my opinion, one of the most emotionally shot crying scenes ever. I am still going to make a musical!

6. Peter Pan (Book) – This book definitely helped me to construct the framework of my imagination. Peter and Michael’s love for adventure and stories seem to vindicate my obsession of wanting to always escape to a “Never Never Land”. I related so much to the story of Peter Pan himself and still do. I always have felt like I am right on that thin line of wanting to grow up and wanting to stay a child forever. For me, it’s an exciting yet somewhat sad story of growing up.

7. Wallace & Gromit (Films) – At a very early age I came to understand the difficulty of stop motion animation from experiments with my brothers in that medium. I always continued to watch, obsess over, and love just about every claymation and stop motion production. The Wallace and Gromit shorts are so quirky and action packed but also were simply one of the first ones I really got to watch behind the scenes of and study. I watched them over and over and over again and still do to this day.

8. Star Wars Trilogy (Films) – From the earliest days I can remember, my brothers were always watching the original Star Wars trilogy and celebrating its stories in our house. So if we are talking influential then this probably takes the cake. We had Star Wars books, soundtracks, toys, movies, you name it. As I have said about other influences, they helped build my imagination, but Star Wars WAS my imagination. It was only until I started reading other books and watching other films that I could build onto that rock that was Star Wars.

9. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Film) – With its non traditional and non-linear storytelling, it opened my eyes to all sorts of new tricks. Although there had been plenty of successful non-linear films before (Memento, Pulp Fiction, etc), this film also had a double whammy of bringing up a love story in an entirely different light. I know that with so many movies I will refer to this one as an inspiration. Whether it has an “Eternal Sunshine” style set design or an “Eternal Sunshine” love story or just an “Eternal Sunshine” feel, it sets a standard in my book for certain future films.

10. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Film) – I knew not action before I knew Terminator 2! My toy action figures were worn out by all of the reenactments of T2 in the proceeding years after I saw the movie. I remember clinging onto the seat in the theater and everything that happened within those 2 and a half hours so vividly back in 1991. I feel nothing has surpassed the standard that it set for how action scenes should be shot and directed.

The band "Cut Copy" is releasing a new album soon, I don't know exactly when but they say soon! 2 years ago they produced an album that has made it into my top 10 or 20 favorite albums of the 00's!! That album is "In Ghost Colours". Please check it out!! Anyway they recently sent me a free download of a track from their upcoming album and it's AWESOME!! I hope the whole album works this well because I'm excited!

Couple things:

I made a new fall playlist for all of you and you'd better listen to it because it's AWESOME!! Most of these bands are very folky music with a couple of random surprises. Nothing like awesome relaxing folk music that makes you want to get a good book with some warm apple cider or maybe some apple dumplings or you know what . . . . . . apple anything, and just enjoy the beautiful leaves and foggy/rainy weather. This music will definitely do that and more!! Also please, please if you don't listen to anything else (which would be stupid) just listen to the few tracks from the soundtrack of The Fountain!! It's my favorite soundtrack of all time, I'm serious. That's a big deal because I collect soundtracks in case you didn't know!! So again please listen to them, they're the tracks done by Clint Mansell. The soundtrack will make your life better!
We're releasing Dead Grandma our web series in less than a month and were gonna have a premiere for it in about 3 weeks in LA!!!!!!
I had a great/exhausting/hot/emotional/sleepless but wonderful family reunion up at Bear Lake in Idaho! I also got very frustrated again at Mariokart while I was there, big surprise! (PICTURES BELOW)
I also just made another column on the right titled "Last 10 movies I've seen". Just thought it might be interesting for future discussions. I rate them *'s, 1 out of 5.
I slept in a tent for 3 days because I was homeless! Don't worry I wasn't 100% homeless.
I still hate texting, no change there!
I started on the 4th Harry Potter book.
I've been studying spanish on my own every morning for the last 2 weeks!
I went to a Chromeo concert 3 weeks ago with my friend Lily and a couple other friends met us up there. We were the very first people there and had the best spots right up against the stage!! (VIDEO BELOW)
In case you didn't know, my plan is to leave to Central America specifically Guatemala in 3 and a half weeks!! When I was back in Oregon for a couple weeks this summer I got to thinking about whether I was going to attend school or not this fall semester and it looked like I wouldn't so I decided that I wanted to travel. My mom encouraged me to find a place to go with volunteer opportunities and since I have always had the goal of learning a different language and Central America is very cheap, it was not too hard of a decision. These last 2 weeks of work haven't been too fruitful but hopefully I will still make enough to leave when originally planned. My plan right now is to fly straight to Guatemala City and then go the same day to Antigua to start one week of spanish classes. These spanish class programs put you up in a homestay for a week. I then plan to move to Quetzaltenango for probably 2 or 3 weeks for the same and then move around guatemala and maybe Nicaragua or maybe all of Central America, for the 2 months after, who knows. Honestly most everyone is freaking out about how my plans are pretty much no plans but . . . . . oh well. I handle myself quite well in situations and I'm pretty excited about just doing my own thing. I am still researching quite a bit about the countries and specifics and I still plan on talking to some volunteer foundations about accommodations and arrangements. Plans always change though so I'll keep you updated. Wish me luck!!

These are all questions, thoughts, comments that most people in the world had about 10 years ago! That's right, I have finally started reading the famous Harry Potter series. I am about half way through the third book and my goal is to complete them before the final film is released. Although I'm open to your opinions on whether I should save the last book and read it after for the surprise effect or just read it before. I started the first book about 2 times before but always did have a little bit of biased hold up. I never doubted that they would be entertaining I just always reserved my interest in fantasy for all things Lord of the Rings. I seem to have a little bit of that attitude of, "Oh all these new kids getting into Harry Potter don't know where the roots of fantasy lie and thats in Middle Earth!!" So I just always put it off but would still continue to see the films. Of course naturally the world that J.K. Rowling created still interested me in the films, I have always loved in depth fantasy worlds, but I had no idea!

I know now why everyone drools at this world she has created. I want to be a student at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardy. It truly is such a tease. It compares to watching Superman fly for the first time and wanting to do the same. Also it's up there with reading about the amazing Hobbiton in Lord of the Rings and wanting to grow up there or even hearing about the elvish lands and wanting to stay for a month in one of their enchanted cities. It really is a big tease and it makes me wonder sometimes why God gave us an imagination. The point is I love em and I can't wait to read another chapter tonight.

So I saw this movie the other day and it was good not great. Overall I like Adam Mckay's and Will Ferrell's other two movies Anchorman and Step Brothers more but I probably like this equal with their other film Talladega Nights. It still had quite a bit of good laughs and this is a shortened cut of one of the funniest scenes. The movie version goes on really long with him rambling on and it's awesome! Enjoy!

So I asked a close friend once whether she thought I was mean or not and when she hesitated to answer, I got pretty sad. After taking a second to figure out a nicer way of saying it, she says " Ummm, well, your just a little abrasive." These comments cut deep and have made me ponder my ways. I really want to be less opinionated. There are just sometimes that my "pointless" opinions or arguments don't freaking matter, and what matters is just to be "pointlessly" nice.

My friend Will says I'm honest and blunt and pointed out the good things about those qualities. While I still believe there are some good things about being harshly honest, overall I feel I need to change some of my ways. I guess it's the whole "it's nice to be important, but more important to be nice" thing. I just need to realize that being passive on some of my dumb arguments is the nicest way to go and people really will ultimately care about how nice you are. I guess it's also the whole " People don't care how much you know, they only know how much you care" thing. Actually it's more like that quote than the latter one, but I'll leave them both on there since they are both great quotes.

I'm making a change. Change comes slowly when were trying to enforce it upon ourselves so be patient, and I'll be patient with myself as well. This doesn't mean I'm getting rid of my opinions on the little things no way, that's impossible. It just means that you might have to dig a little deeper in my vault to get them out of me. Hey, the process has already begun, for the last 4 months I have eased up on immediately getting annoyed with people playing bad country pop music in the car or house where I'm at. Trust me, that takes a lot of self control!

The Uncut Gem

The Uncut Gem is the nickname of Opal Creek in Oregon. My friend Craig and I went there this last Saturday, and honestly, it is one of my favorite places ever!!! Beautiful, Gorgeous and breathtaking. In addition to the beauty there are rocks to jump off of and natural rock slides to slide down on. If you could just warm the water a bit, it would be perfection!

So I'm just a little stressed right now which NEVER happens if you know me, and I need to let out my frustrations somehow. If ever I need to just be mad at something that really won't and shouldn't ever hurt anyone, this is just one of the things I tend to take my anger out on:

I HATE DIET COKE!!!

Just a couple things for people who don't know my hatred for this beverage. It will still make you fat, will still give you diabetes, it is absolutely disgusting and if you think otherwise it's just because you were raised on it by your evil parents, or you are addicted! Please, Coke and Pepsi are in my opinion gross, but I can't argue opinions of simple taste. However, I can argue that fake sugar is sick and wrong and you shouldn't be regularly drinking soda anyway. So if you are gonna tip back some can (preferably bottle) of pop, do it with class and just go for the full on good tasting original sugar!

I urge parents everywhere who are hooked on this concoction of devilry, don't carry your children down to the deep dark ways your parents or own doing have introduced you to. Please I beg of you, it's unhealthy and if they must have sugar, give them some juice!

Just a word of wisdom. . . . . . . (hint, hint)

So I really am having a hard time waiting for a film to be released this Friday:

I truly cannot wait any longer!!! First off the director Christopher Nolan rocks!! He is one of the most creative and inventive film geniuses around. The prestige is on my top ten list of the 2000's and his other films are on my runner-ups list. He has been quoted in articles saying that he and his brother Jonathan have been working on this film script and ideas during the creation of 3 of his other films and that this is his most ambitious piece of work!! Again, can't wait!! That being said, I still have to go in with a clear mind so that my overall opinion of the film is not swayed too much by my hype.

On other movie news, I'm really sad that M. Night Shyamalan's movie The Last Airbender is doing so poorly with critical reviews. I haven't seen it yet for that reason. It has a 8% on Rotten tomatoes which is unbelievable!! Really it's THAT bad. Anyway it's just sad to me because when you know someone who has made something so great, you know when he comes out with something so bad, that he's capable of more. You can go deep with that thought there but I'll spare you. It's his potential that makes me sad about all of this. He made Unbreakable which is one of my favorite movies and has so many elements to other films of his that always are so awesome. When he gets something right (music, cinematography, story concept, acting)he gets it right, but it seems as though he's always on that thin line where it's really great stuff or really bad stuff. He has been working on scripts for other films that won't be directed by him so we'll see how those are. Here's a link to one of those coming out this year.

Also because I was a big fan of Aliens and Predator movies growing up I had to see "Predators" this last weekend. It sucked! That's about it! I have my reasons but most of you being girls who read this will probably say " Of course it sucks, it's a brainless guy's action movie with weird creatures". My reasons will just fuel your fire of misunderstanding of why those movies in their own way can be good movies. Let's just say that me seeing that movie is almost just the same as you girls justifying seeing "Twilight" movies.

I found out about this stuff on my mission in Arizona and wrote a letter to Pepsi to see if they distributed it anywhere in OR or UT and all they sent me was a link to the site I had already looked at. They are stupid people!

Anyway this stuff is the best apple flavored soda I've had and trust me I've tried a lot. It's probably also the cheapest and it's really hard to find! Other places I've seen it: gas station in Boise Idaho, a ghetto Little Caesars in North Hollywood, and a Target in Pasadena.

If you find a six pack, a 20 oz, or a 2 liter of this stuff please pick me up one I beg you. That's all folks.

Third time's the charm!

Yes I think this is the third time I have been on a large hiatus from my blog, and I'm not gonna lie, it's probably gonna happen again at some point. Really a blog is not the most important thing in my life but recently there's been a lot of influx of inspiration and I hope that it will at least be quite a while from now when I take as large of a break from the blog. I was actually planning on getting rid of the blog altogether and designing a new professional website for myself, but I still need a little more time to create some more work for my portfolio. So for now I'm gonna ditch the professionalism and make this for the few readers and great friends I have. I've updated the playlist, added some more observations on life and added some new album recommendations. As Arnold says in "Kindergarten Cop" - "Now we are having fun"!

The Saxomophone!

Well after 3 months of not posting on the blog, I'm back! And what am I back with you ask, a personal opinion on the current opinion in music today of a certain instrument: The saxophone! The general view of the Saxophone today with people ages 14-35 is that it's a lame and gay( the un-P.C. and not old fashioned meaning) instrument. I declare that when used the right way the Saxophone rocks!! Now when I say that it rocks, I do not mean in the sweet way that a Jimmy Page or Jack White would shred the guitar way, but in a sweet way that you just can't quite put that finger on.

Now I'm sure I might get a couple of reactions from the beginning of this post but I'm sure that these are some of the more common reactions:
1. Someone in their older ages ( over 55 ) say " no that saxophone is just great I remember my parents playing good old timer Jazz with Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and more, how could them young people dislike that instrument".
2. Age 35-50, " If I hear one more smooth Jazz station play an awful, cheesy, and dorky saxophone track I'm gonna kill someone"
3. Age 40- 55 "Hmmmm let's see what's on the 97.8 KJazz smooth Jazz station, I just love to hear those amazing saxophone covers on modern day hits and hopefully we'll get a Kenny G track in there as well".
4. Age 15-35, " Saxophone, what's that? Is that that terrible instrument that Lisa played on the Simpsons?"
5. Age 15-35, " I Hate the sax, it's so lame! Weren't all those sax instruments destroyed years ago!"

For those of you in the older age category: I'm sorry but that generally is how the younger age views this wonderful instrument. During the 80's and 90's Someone by the name of Kenny G came along and despite his beautiful flowing locks of hair, just gave an image and sound to the sax the has forever haunted it. At least when you had hair rockers sporting the sax like this,

you could have a sense of humor about it all but when Kenny G and followers of him came along they took it seriously and forever sent the sax to Nordstrom's elevators and changing rooms in second hand clothing stores.

For those in the the middle age category: Please just ignore the smooth Jazz radio stations unless to have a chuckle with them, and proceed to the younger category section below.

Those in my generation and younger: I plead with you on a couple things:
1. Read and study just a bit some history on the instrument and the early days of it's use in Jazz. Jazz plays the largest role in modern day Rock & Roll and saxophone was very classy in those early days.
2. Understand that some of the sweetest musicians ever, and plenty of artists you might be surprised to hear love and have used the Saxophone in their music.

Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Joe Cocker, Billy Joel, Steely Dan, Chicago, ZZ Top, Lou Reed, Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, U2, Foreigner, Supertramp, Lenny Kravitz, The Cure, Daft Punk, Belle & Sebastian, Radiohead, My Morning Jacket, Keane, Jamiroquai, The Raconteurs, Junior Boys, Empire of the Sun, Chromeo.

3. Have a sense of humor about the cheesy bad stuff with sax and just embrace it! After all one of your favorite comedic shows embraced it :

So in closing, the saxophone has been around for a while and with a sense of humor and your help we can keep it around forever. Mariokart Madness

Ok so here's the deal. I don't seriously get too angry about that many things in life. Most people who know me know that I'm quite a pleasant person to have around, a good natured kid. It's always been a goal of mine to try and help people around me to have a better day. People also know that I'm a passionate person when it comes to most things whether they matter or not, mostly the things that don't matter. I love giving my outspoken opinions on the arts, music, and all media. I also have really long and very deep thoughts and conversations about the finer things in life, politics and religion (I know hard to believe).

But there is a side to me that not too many get to see and hopefully it will stay that way. It's the "Hulk" side of me if I may. It is still quite mild though considering Hulk would grow to 15 feet and destroy cities and kill, but If I had those powers I don't know If I would be too different. Anyway, there are only a couple things in this life that truly get me in a state of almost uncontrollable rage and these are them:

Getting lost on freeways or cities for any reason but especially when people give me a bad address or terrible directions!!
Cops who don't have a life so they pick on the little people, and parking/booting/towing enforcement. Just writing this is getting my blood boiling!!
Last but not least, playing a "friendly" game of Mariokart. I will also accept fighting games such as Street Fighter.

My brother Jon and his Wife Kirsten found this out recently, and set up a hidden camera to catch some footage. This is actually the mild stuff and the whole video is trimmed a little as well, but enjoy nonetheless.

Ok, finally I will unveil to all of you my most wonderous costume of all and also a little about the party I hosted on Halloween Oct. 31st.

Say Hello to Jareth the Goblin King. Just in case there are some uncultured unfortunate souls out there who knows not this man: it is David Bowie from the 1986 film Labyrinth. I took about a month to piece together this costume all from online. As you can see my nephew Phillip played a wonderful Toby.

The rest of the story goes something like this. At 9pm with the help of a Will Kindrick and Danielle Jackowiak, I hosted a party In Jon's backyard. My friend Will's sister's family owns many o' party gear so with their generosity we had a giant bounce house in the backyard along with a cotton candy machine. We had the regular Rock Band with lights and fog machine stuff going on most of the night with some dancing involved (of course) and we also heated the pool up to 90 and had the hot tub going for the last half of the party.

All in all it was a great party, too many sweets, not enough midgets, and way too much magic dancing. . . . . . . "well, laugh" (in David Bowie voice)

The past 6 weeks.

Ok everyone, time for an update. I have been away from the blog for a little while now as i have been working on a project for the past 6 weeks. But I'm in the process right now of writing up quite a few posts for the ol blogaroo so really this is just an introduction to them. Also check out the new music playlist I updated for fall time. For six weeks I was working as a double/stand-in for a Disney TV movie for this kid:

Luckily I didn't take any pics of when I doubled for him because my hair straightened? wow!! I wanted to beat myself down. Anyway I was really really glad to get done with that job. The first assistant director was the sole reason for wanting to get off that!! This guy was . . . . (expletives) over and over again!! Really I wanted to harm this man. I won't go into detail but he made the set a living hell and he just is not a good human being. His name is John D. Pontrelli a.k.a. "Ponch". I give you his name so that whatever bad press I can give him, I give freely!! Anyway this TV movie for Disney, "Starstruck" is geared to be another type of High School Musical. Yay for that! Anyway here are some more pics from the set and then soon you'll be getting some more posts.

I love aquatic activities, such as: swimming, snorkeling, rock jumping, scuba diving, canoeing, kayaking and I really only like to camp when there is some type of body of water close by.

Apples are my favorite!! Whenever buying candy, any apple flavored item is my favorite. So this is an issue I have been wanting to write about for a long time and put my feelings on it for a while. Of course though I soon found a friend's friend's article that had taken the words right out of my mouth and did the work for me. My friend Nate Fackrell's brother Andrew wrote this back when this issue was being voted on but I still find myself trying to explain my feelings and my beliefs on the matter so this is still pertinent and will be forever.

You might be able to guess what the issue is if it's both political and religious. . . .? Yes it has stemmed from Prop 8 in California but goes deeper for me since I have always felt that I was sick of the negative publicity the church gets about it's stance on homosexuality and how many in the world view us as very rigid and black and white without very much understanding towards those who are homosexual. My belief is that the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is actually the most understanding towards everyone in the world when you truly know and understand our Heavenly Father's plan. He knows us personally and knows who we are and what we go through and if he is a perfect parent, which I believe he is, then he will treat his children perfectly as a loving father.

Anyway I'm just gonna lead you to this article, please read it because it really does express most of my feelings on this as a political message. Part 1 is more of the set-up and 2 is more of the meat.

A good/difficult/creative/enjoyable/unenjoyable film.

So Yesterday I saw a film called 500 Days of Summer. I knew about this film back at the Sundance film festival but along with many other films I wanted to see up there, I didn't get to it. A couple friends recommended this movie to me and I knew I already wanted to see it so I finally got around to it yesterday. Now I have seen a bunch of other films recently in the theaters and on DVD but the reason I was compelled to write about this one could be answered by the title of this blog. This one hits too close to home and too recently close. There have been a few times that movies have had such impact in my life depending on the period in which I see them. Some of these films are from that list in the older post of my top films, some are not. I don't think this one would be one of my absolute favorites but it definitely will be one of the most memorable. If you don't know anything about this film here is the trailer.

I started writing a review for the film in very unattached way when I soon discovered that there was a critic that had written my words almost exactly the way I felt, seriously. I took the review and basically changed up a couple things or added a couple sentences, so yes that would be plagiarism but this is not a school project and I'm letting you know this so therefore it's not plagiarism. No Joke, other than certain wording, I wrote half a review that sounded exactly like this critic's review, he just says it better. Here you go:

Plot: Tom Hansen (Joseph Gordon Leavitt) is your average twenty-something white dude with a good 9-5 job. Everything about his life is perfectly adequate, except for one thing: he has not yet met “The One”. So when a beautiful new co-worker named Summer (Zooey Deschanel) enters his life, Tom thinks he’s met his soul mate. But while Summer is definitely into Tom, she’s not so much into relationships…and she doesn’t believe in love.

Review: I Thank my lucky stars this film shows the other side of love. The not-so-rosy side of relationships. For showing that men don’t always dictate the pace. Men don’t always screw over women, men aren’t simply clamoring to get in bed with them. That’s right, despite what Hollywood seems to think, some of us men suffer too dangit, we got feelings too. That’s not to say that 500 Days of Summer is some whiny, emo, girl-power marathon- it’s not, at all. It’s just a realistic, witty, and most importantly extremely entertaining piece of filmmaking. It’s the “Rom-com rebuttal”. Sure, it’s still a comedy, and yes, at times it can be very romantic, but it sure ain’t sweet, and this baby ain’t even remotely formulaic.

As the title suggests, we follow the 500 days that Tom Hansen has Summer in his life. We don’t however follow this story in order. We jump from day 249 to day 1, to day 488, to day 44, etc. It can get a bit disorienting and tiresome at times, but it works better than your typical point A to point B narrative. This and several other elements of the film are very evocative of another of my favorites that rebel against the genre, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In both films we get a sensitive male lead and an elusive, cold female who serves as the object of the male’s every desire and the subject of their greatest fears. It’s a bold tactic in that romantic comedies are typically for the female audience, with characters they can sympathize with. 500 Days of Summer is decidedly told from the male’s perspective (though it appeals to both sexes), so here’s hoping a male audience can get over their preconceptions and give this film a go.

Gordon-Leavitt is great as always, playing an everyman who, bless him, just wants to meet the right girl and settle down. While he’s sure Summer is that girl, she’s not so sure he’s the right guy, or that there’s even such thing. Throughout their tumultuous relationship, the screenwriters built in some moments of rare realism, like that short, cryptic email us guys dread, the inevitable “friends” talk, the possible rekindling of romance, etc. It’s hard to describe without giving too much away, but I’d bet good money that anyone who sees this film will find at least one or two instances where they say “Wow, yeah, I can relate to that.”

That isn’t to say this film is one long break-up or downer. Not even close! It’s a comedy after all, and there are many happy times to be had by the couple. Music Video helmer Marc Webb directed this thing with great visual flair, providing everything from animation to a fantastic dance number that is easily one of the film’s great moments. Drawing on both classic 80’s hits and current hipster tunes, this film’s soundtrack is one that’ll probably be a big seller as well, and keeps the film upbeat.

Other than the somewhat disorienting narrative, there are a few other small hang-ups I had with this film. Despite smashing dozens of stereotypes, the pic does unfortunately succumb to several which standout all the more. These include the horny, crude best friend, and the for-some-reason-20-years-more-mature-than-she-should be younger sister. Oh that little girl bugs the heck out of me. Also, since the film wants to appeal to mass audiences as much as possible, it shies away from too many truly emotional moments,( Matt Heder doesn't agree with that last statement) and I wish there were a few more of those, but on the whole, this thing still packs way more emotional punch than 99% of the rom-coms out there today.

In fact, I don’t want to classify 500 Days as a rom-com at all. I can’t call it a tragicomedy either though, or a drama. The film really is unclassifiable, and that in my mind is the mark of something truly original.

I told my friend who has had a recent experience like me and comparable to the film that the film was comparable to Schindler's List in that I thought it was a great picture and was well made but man was it difficult for me and that it will be a long time till I can see it again.

"Never Can Say Goodbye"

Today hurts. A fond friend that never knew me passed away today. His story is one of success, and tragedy and it hurts that he left this earth with the latter part of his lifestyle sticking in most of our minds. He came from a background that was completely unique and different than anyone else and so for that we'll never know exactly why he chose to be the person he was at the end of his life.

We can remember though the inspiration in the entertainment industry he was. His music forced people to bust a move and his dancing forced jaws to drop.

As Michael said in one of his songs, "I'll be there, I'll be there". Certainly Michael you will always be here, in Matt Heder's heart. - miss you Mike

So I'm trying to finish up half of the BYU film school application right now and one of the assignments is to write up the 10 most significant books, films, television programs, music, etc. I created a list a while ago of the possible 10 favorite films and then added a second list incorporating the other things later and so far there are 29 nominees for the 10 most significant or influential to me.

So I thought I'd just throw that list to you for fun. I'm having a very hard time trying to get it to 10. I got it to 11 and then I change my mind and there are 13 and then there are 8 for sure and then there are 15!!!! Ughhh! The title of this entry actually is a quote from an old lady on the movie "Billy Madison" who is giving a tour on a class' field trip and is giving a history of the place they're visiting and no one is listening obviously so in the background you can hear her say "Is anyone even listening to me"?

Anyway I title the entry that because I'm here to evaluate if I should continue this blog. I most likely will just for my own fun and records but since I was convinced by a sister in law to start this blog I'm convinced that her and maybe 5 others are the only ones who read this. Considering that I'm one of the only single guys who has a blog thats not a professional or career related blog on the web, thats why I'm placing this poll on the page. Your only allowed one vote and if I get more than 10-15 votes then I'll continue this blog, if not, then ??? We'll see. Does anyone other than Stacy read my observations on life on the side of my blog?? Does anyone care for the "albums I've listened to recently" section on the side. These are actually just rhetorical questions so no worries I'm not whining about these things I'm just saying. . . .

2008 has been over for a little while so I figure I've had enough time to evaluate a couple of my "top ten lists" or "Best Of" or whatever in the last year. To start off I'm gonna give you my favorite albums of the year. Now just to explain myself first the top ten albums I give you are determined on a couple things: Talent, revolutionary?, catchy?, skill?, development as a band, and of course - whatever is just plain sweet or great music in my opinion. I have a couple of Runner-ups that are after the top ten and they actually might be played just as much or maybe more than the top 10 but whether they are necessarily the best of the year. . . . . . they are just pretty much ones I really enjoy and recommend.

Top Ten Albums of 2008 ( Please play songs while reading)

1. Coldplay - "Viva la Vida" - Amazing!! I got this album literally the second it was available because of my itunes pre-order. I listened to it that night and was speechless. They continue to become the best in the world with each new album, that's right I said it!

2. My Morning Jacket - "Evil Urges" - Not as amazing as they're last album "Z" but has solid Rock tracks with a couple of touches that make me really jam out hardcore! This music is a perfect blend of good country with rock.

3. Cut Copy - "In Ghost Colours" - The 80's are back, and this album came at perfect timing to convince everyone of it. Perfect tight dance grooves with some awesome funk electro wave beats. It's impossible not to feel like your dancing in a spaceship when you hear a couple of these tracks.

4. Keane - " Perfect Symmetry" - Another example of the 80's coming back. With influences from David Bowie this album isn't perfectly original but they still continue their very crisp sound and catchy tunes.

5. Emiliana Torrini - "Me and Armini" - Probably the most underrated album of the year, This woman I remind you sang the song at the end of Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers and in this album she really shows every type of music talent off. One second she's doing a sweet rock groove and then she does a really fun catchy pop tune, then she whips out some folk!!

6. Lykke Li - "Youth Novels" - Another girl that when you first hear her you think "this girl is weird" but then you realize how awesome her very unique style is and your hooked. This music is very hard to classify (which usually makes albums very fun), but it would probably be electronic but it really has some very cool rock elements to it.

7. Vampire Weekend - "Vampire Weekend" - I've actually only had a couple of weeks of listening to this but i can understand why it's on a lot of other Top ten lists of the year. These guys have a completely unique sound to their name. They use a lot of instruments but the songs sound very clean and simple. It's new and it's good.

8. M83 - "Saturdays = Youth" - These guys actually have 3 other albums that have slowly done the whole "bring back the 80's" thing but in this album they have a little easier intro to a wider audience since most of their other stuff is very ambient electronic. Some tracks on here still do that but I love it and it's perfect for mood music. But they do have a good balance of some "pop"-ier songs mixed with their old style stuff. Genius!

9. Raconteurs - "Consolers of the Lonely" - Simply Put. . . . Country bluegrass Southern rock at it's best!! Every track pretty much has sweet rock solos but with heavy southern style!!

10. Fleet Foxes - "Fleet Foxes" - Actually first introduced to me by my mother, I was apprehensive since the main guy's voice sounds very similar to My Morning Jacket's, but I very quickly warmed up and then absolutely loved this album. A very Folk style music that's still got a little alternative style and The whole album is POIFICT for a foggy fall day!

Splashing Landon

So here's another video of my amazing Cousin Landon. Just in case you didn't finish the last one you have to go back and watch it but you can fast forward to 3:40 in it to see the ending. So when me, my friends Craig Jordan and Adam Heath and Landon all lived together we would pull pranks on each other quite a bit. I really miss it a lot. But one prank was splashing Landon in the shower with cold water. This kid would sometimes take a shower for over an hour no exaggeration and all of the time at least over 30 min. He NEVER LOCKED THE DOOR ONCE!!!! It was great! We actually just ended up keeping that pitcher below the sink and he would never remember to move it! Anyway we only got about 5 out of about 50 times of the splashing on camera so here you go. We also added the song Unforgettable Dream by The Bar Kays because Landon loves his soul music and this was the most common song he sang in the shower.

2 weeks ago me, Adam and one of his law school friends Clark went Snow camping up in the Grand Tetons. I don't really wanna make a fun story out of it so here's the short 411. It was Beautiful! It was Freezing!!! Below -10 degrees when we slept the first night in the tent. My sleeping bag had frost on it. The weather was perfect during the day! We didn't really see any wildlife and we went Ice fishing but didn't catch any fish. It was fun to go X-country skiing again. So yup, that's about it.

Will I Move?

So after a long time of working hard at quite a few jobs since Halloween, I finally got to take a nice lazy vacation. After working at the sundance film festival I got to leave for California for a week and a half. I went down for a couple reasons: I had southwest airline miles to use before March, to see family that I haven't seen forever, and to try and help make up my mind on whether to move down there in the spring. I also wanted to check out the L.A. film school while I was down there and take a tour. I took both of my cameras down with the idea that I'd have some time to practice but I ended up not really taking any pictures. It ended up raining also on the day we went to Disneyland so I really didn't take barely any. These are the few that I took just for memory's sake.

It really was tons of fun seeing all of my nieces and nephews down in California: Josie, Tallulah, Evan, Conrad, Eric and Olivia. And it was great to see the sisters as well: Kirsten, Staci and Sarah. I just can't say it was cool to see the brothers because then it's really gay and they would threaten to beat me up. But you know what, I can pose a pretty good threat to them now so ya, bring it!

My Vehicle Designs

Other than my bike I have 2 modes of transportation: My 1998 Nissan Maxima and my 2001 Venice scooter. My scooter has been through a lot in it's life and has obtained a lot of battle scars. I figured because of the value of it's broken body it would not be worth it to try and fix and sell. Instead I figured I'd just keep the engine working and just decorate it so it would have the rest of it's life to look pretty. Back in October I found a lot of designs and logos on the web and then took them to a sign store and had custom bumper stickers made. I still have more to make but for now these are them and this is my scooter:

Just in case you can't see some of the beautiful highlights on this masterpiece, I'll share. There's actually a spray paint can lid for the gas cap and some duct tape holding the body together. Most of these stickers are bands like, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, The Who, Cut Copy, Chromeo, Beck, Jamiroquai and the wonderfully creamy picture of the Commodores. There's also a logo from the show LOST of the Dharma Initiative, a Nintendo logo, a Ren & Stimpy sticker and an ad from The Office.

I'm Back part 2

So I just got back from working as a driver at the Sundance Film festival for 11 days so maybe I won't get everyone caught up immediately on what i did over the month of December and instead just continue to catch you up slowly on random stories every now and then.

So i just got myself a digital camera as well as that DianaF+ replica 120 film camera so I'm really taking more pics now, so good news, you'll all be getting more stories.

Here are a couple of the pics so far from my Diana camera. Keep in mind that the instruction manual was very short and this isn't an easy 35mm film camera, it's a little more difficult with very primitive settings so my first roll only came out with about 4 ok pics.

I'm Back Part 1

After going on Hiatus for a month from my blog, I return. I've Updated my poll, my playlist and more on the side so take a look. I'll try and give you all a couple of parts to this history as to what I've been up to for the last month! Here's just a couple of fun tidbits to give you a random overview of the month.

- I received almost 10 gigabytes of music in the last month and a half!!! In case you don't have an idea of gigabytes that's over 2000 songs!!!

- I got to go see Coldplay in Concert

- I turned 24 years old!!

- I cooked my second Turkey this thanksgiving and basically cooked the whole meal on my own and it was a feast!!

- I shaved yesterday!!!!!!!! (Thank you Mom for the razor for Christmas)

- I scanned tons of my high school pics into my computer!

- I stayed in Provo for Christmas and New Years all by myself to work as a waiter in Utah where you receive less than minimum wage and all you make is in tips and absolutely no one came into the restaurant the days before Christmas and didn't get to receive any family traditions of Christmas!!

- Bought myself a replica of an old camera that's a Diana F+ 120 film camera!!

You see everyone, this is an important lesson that putting an exclamation mark on the end of something very boring can make it look exciting!!!!

Halloween: A Work in Progress

It's been about 5 years since I sincerely dressed up for Halloween. I love Halloween, but in the last 2 years I really haven't been around the people or circumstances to allow me to get excited for it, and the 2 years before that I was on the mission. Now currently I'm dating a wonderful, sweet girl named Ashley Duffin (in case you didn't know) and come to find out she loves Halloween!

About a week before Halloween events I found this sweet pic on the web while I was looking for a good 2 person homemade costume:

The wheels in my head started turning about what Ashley and I could do with this pic as a model for a different costume. I then proceeded to print this pic out and then draw out a design of an amazing costume piece. We were determined to make this costume the $ maker at all the parties this year.

I took my designs down to Joann's fabrics and took a number for help. It was kinda odd being the only male in this whole store. My number was called and I got to the desk with my designs and then after explaining them I asked if they did custom sewing jobs. They said no and then told me how complicated the idea was. But, with the combination of my sweet talk, a wink, and her intrigue of the costume, Lexy a clerk there slipped me her # and name and said she'd help on her off hours! In the meantime there was a party on Mon. before Halloween so we just used my brother Adam and his wife Diana's costume

So anyway, back to the story. We went to this lexy's house and got measured and then the next day I tried on the muslin lining of what she had made. The day after that Ashley tried on the muslin lining as well, but there was a little problem since that day was Fri. Oct. 31st!!!! She didn't even have the costume barely ready in the morning. We were patient since it was a last minute costume. She said it could be done by 8 at the latest which of course wasn't what I wanted to hear since I wanted to get it on earlier and get a start to the evening without worrying about it. It came to 8 O'clock and no call from Lexy!!! I tried to call but no answer!! We were still finishing up Ashley's chili and cornbread so it wasn't too hectic. An hour passed and still no word!! Now we were starting to get a little upset. It was now 9:30 so we were assuming the worst and just were now planning on staying in for the night and maybe watching a Halloween movie. Yeah. . . . I was def. very annoyed inside. 10:15 rolls around so now we decide we're gonna drive to her house and knock on the door! Ashley went to the door and knocked, lexy answered and said "I was wondering when you guys would show up"! She was just about done and said she had 20 min. left. So we waited, and then we had it, FINALLY!! It was now 10:45 when we started getting all of the rest of our costumes together. So basically we were gonna only make it to one party and maybe walk around a little bit!! We got all of our costume on and. . . . . . . . . . . . . (in a very unenthusiastic voice) A centaur from the wood realm and his fairy riding him (this is when we hear the "trumpet fart" in the background) . Yayyy. . .

All in all though we had a pretty funny night. It started raining on us, it was impossible to dance, Ashley's "leg's" on the costume ended looking like raw bratwursts links and the centaur was shaped like a tootsie roll. It was quite funny and we def. got the most excited reactions of the night while walking through the crowds. The reaction usually ended up being like this: " Dude that's sweet, I love it, it's awesome etc. . (and then 5 sec. later) so what the heck are you guys?" Like I said it ended up being quite memorable and for me especially because I gotta share it with her:

A Hard Worker??

So it's official, I have 4 jobs!!!!! I start training this Sat. at The Macaroni Grill as a waiter, I deliver Flowers at the Flower patch in Provo about twice a week, I'm technically hired as a freelance photographer at Rubberball Productions, and an actor represented by Urban Wilhelmina agency!! Oh ya, if you ever want to hire a Gorilla to dance at a party I'm also available.

So I'll admit it when I say I never have learned how to work as hard as I would have liked to when growing up. At certain things and times I have applied myself fantastically i.e. The Mission, The Front and a couple of other projects. My father was always a great example to me of hard work and I wish I could apply better the things I've seen from him. The reason I explain this is because yes, I am working on working hard!! I know that having these jobs and managing them will force me to grow up in the working hard area. Go ahead and laugh all you want, it's ok with me, I laugh at myself. I really have thought more and more about getting more into the photography side of film recently. I've tried editing, been trying out acting, but I'm leaning more towards the cinematography side so tell me what you think. I'm taking these jobs with this in mind so I'm looking forward to purchasing a camera sometime in the next 6 months. In the meantime if any of you have a spare digital camera that I can use just for personal use I would love to get my hands on one. So anyway I guess I'm just telling you all of these things because I want to give all of you a little more of an idea of what's been on my mind recently instead of a really interesting story. Fear and Loathing in the Wasatch!

Once upon a time there were three men who thought they were men. They lived in the land Provo near the Mountains of Uinta. They decided to leave Provo for a night to embark on a journey through the mountains. Journeys through the mountains were a regular occurrence for men such as these to prove again the manhood of themselves to people back in the towns. This night, the 17th day of the 10th month on the year 2008, these 3 friends found themselves ready and willing to trek the more unknown paths through the American Fork Canyon. With backpacks on, canteens filled, guns and ammunition, and the oh so delightful snack that villagers enjoyed called "starbursts" in their pockets, they were ready!

After driving for around an hour trying to find a location to start the three were getting impatient and the sky was already darkened. They finally reached a spot near the top of the canyon to park. - (OK I'm sick of trying to talk this way, I'm just gonna tell you what happened). So Heath, Kevin and myself got lost for about 2 hours around the wilderness going off trail trying to find a good patch to pitch our tent. We finally decided if we could just find the road then we could just take it back to the car and then drive somewhere else to find another camping location. finally we did find the road and started to follow it up. About a half an hour going up the road, (mind you this is already 11:30 pm and it is pitch black outside) we heard some rustling in the woods below us. A little spooked we turned our lights toward the noises and it was a pack of deer just below us. They really didn't mind us while we just took a quick standing break to look at them. Only about 2 min. after we found them did we suddenly hear another noise. The Noise! It started as a low rhythmic rumbling sounding like a heartbeat that only I thought I heard. It started very slow like a heartbeat but then sped up like into a much quicker bass thumping like a purr. Heath then looked at me and asked, "was that your stomach or heart"? I then said "I thought that was you, you heard that", and then Kevin being the hunter that he is, suddenly threw his hand near us saying "sshhh, be quiet. . . . don't say anything and hold still"!

Now all of our hearts were beating rapidly because Kevin preceded to tell us we were in the eye line of a mountain lion that was most likely hunting those deer, but now might have just changed it's appetite to man flesh. that sound we heard was it's warning purr. We immediately started quietly freaking out about what to do, arguing that it will chase us if we run or if it will get us if we stay still or whether we should make noise to make it frantic!!! About 5 min. passed until we decided to start walking fast when we immediately heard the noise a second time, and this time there was no mistake as to what it was!! It was louder longer and felt like it was only 20 feet away!!! My adrenaline was pumping!! We continued to walk fast but with even more caution, Kevin took the rear since he was loaded with a 12 gauge shotgun. We never heard it a third time and walked the road for about an hour and a half until we got back to our car. We ended up searching and hiking other spots at night for camping but never found one. We went back to our house and cuddled together with some apple cider.

These pics were taken in that 5 min. gap when we were arguing about what to do, so the scared looks are for real.

So back in May I was at Urban Outfitters checking stuff out when my eyes caught a hold of this little piece of retro beauty!! They had it there for sale but it was too expensive at their price so I just went along my merry way. I slept with a cold sweat that night not understanding what was going on with my equilibrium. My head was filled with visions of cardboard pad dancing in the city, rollerblading with friends in the summer, and parading around town on feet or on wheels. But with each of this visions I was haunted, for each of these there I was, holding on to something transparent. Something was there but wasn't at the same time. It was the necessary ingredient for fun in each of these dreams but for some reason I didn't actually have it in my possesion. It was as if an invisible object that I was holding was mocking me for not truly owning it or knowing what it was!!

I woke up in the early morning recording my dreams.

"I know what it is I must do, it will be mine oh yes, it will be mine"

One Week and 10 D batteries Later:

The Last Day of the Journey

Mark and I left the comforts of his car after sleeping in it that night at 9:30 in the morning to go take surf lessons!!

I actually did really well and got up the 2nd try and pretty much got up and stayed up for almost every time after that.

It wasn't until about 2 and a half hours of doing it that I started to get really tired and then couldn't get up on the board anymore.

It really was exhausting but we stayed out for a total of about 5 hours!!

This is on the way back home from the amazing week of great super-fun happy time!!

This was actually a tamed down video of what happened. Mark and I started to throw these bread chunks at each other because the birds were absolutely vicious and would attack us for the bread!!

Northwest Week Part 3

So These pics don't want to display in order because this dumb program won't let me!! Anyway these pics are all on the same day still, but are just out of order.

We had to wait for about 3 hours for our ferry to leave so we decided to rent one of these scootcars and tour the island on it.

On the way back to our campsite we stumbled on a whole group of ponies just off the side of the road. They were really sweet, one had a fro, one with a mohawk, and another with like a sweet surfer hair-do with the hair in front of the eyes.

It was such a nice night that Mark and I just put our sleeping bags on the ground and slept under the stars.

Originally when I planned to come back to OR it was only gonna be a 2 week thing and one of those weeks was gonna be spent going to a lot of the places I've wanted to see in the Northwest at summer time for a long time. This last week after labor day, Mark Mayeda and I got to do exactly that and had a great time. I'm just gonna put up some pics each day of the vacation in order of what we did.

So when I was originally planning on this OR trip to be just a short 2 week return I had scheduled it around this radiohead concert. Of course my family and friends back home are more important but it was just easy to schedule my trip around this event. Radiohead only comes to the U.S. after an album release and who knows when the next one will be?

Back in my senior year was my big year for my love of music. It was revolutionary for me! I always loved music of course and always remember Doug with Guns 'n Roses and Nirvana etc. and Jon and Dan always with Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. For me those years def. gave me some of my favorite artists still today, but with any other art it seems there always one show, or one movie event or one such thing that makes you really really love that art instead of it just being a fond childhood memory. My time for that discovery was my senior year in high school. By this time the burning of Cd's was well established and therefore i just about had my collection from Jon, Dan , Doug and friends almost complete ( at least of their old stuff ). So now I was just beginning to develop this keenness for many modern music styles that was going to be "new" to my ears. The bands that helped me usher this stage in were these: Coldplay, Radiohead, Pete Yorn, Stereophonics, Beck, Gorillaz, Muse, Doves, The Verve. All of these made me love the classics even more and decide that some of the artists my bro's introduced me to might be some of my favorites as well, for example: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jamiroquai, Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Supertramp, and U2. These bands were now striking my earbuds and heart and mind in a whole new way with this new appreciation as if I was listening to all new bands!

Anyway that's my fun post about music today. If any of you know me and my absolute love for music then I thought this might be interesting to know. It is hard for any of these bands to live up to any hype in my head because of this background but it still is fun just to see them live and to realize that they really are sweet musicians. I'm posting just a couple of videos from the concert I went to on Wed. night. These are not videos that I took so if it's bad camera work I apologize.

Camping with Uncle Matt

Ok so since I'm at home with the world's largest Canker Sore in and out of doing yard work outside, I thought I'd give just tell you about a quick little trip Dad and I took with Jaykob and Max. It was about 2 weeks ago when I first got back from Utah and Dad said he arranged a quick camping trip in the mountains with the nephews. It def. was quick and actually kind of a lame camping trip ( you don't have to believe me just ask Max or Jaykob ). We just walked in about 1 mile since at about a half a mile the kids were saying already how tired they were!! So we never actually found the lake we were looking to camp by so we just pitched our tent right off the trail. Well the mosquitoes were everywhere there so we just ate our top ramen cups, which by the way two of them had weavels in them because Dad had pulled them from the attic so who knows how long they had been up there. We had nothing else to do and like I said the mosquitoes were out so we just got in the tent me Jaykob and Max while my Dad slept under the stars. Now I know why my dad took the outside about 50 ft. away!!! Because about every hour in the night Max and Jaykob would switch requests to go to the bathroom or have a drink of water!!! I mean cmon!! can't these kids at least coordinate when they need to go. No joke I woke up 6 times between 11 pm- 5 am that night!!!! Well that's about it for camping. We headed back after breakfast and it took Max forever on the trail, he's so funny, he starts using the excuse " My leg's stopped working". So for the last quarter mile I carried him with his pack and mine!! Oh but after all that is said I do love them and they are a blast, I'll just wait a while before camping again with them.

Just a Little of my Life

My name is Matthew, and I am the youngest one in the family and the only single one. When I receive phone calls from family members and they ask, " So what are you doing these days"? I know they are sincere. So with my post today I'm gonna try and give you just a little of what I've been doing these last 8 months. But honestly I can't give you too much information because honestly, I don't know what I've been doing!

I'm actually just gonna give you a chapter every now and then as to what I've been doing. So today's chapter deals with my two jobs during the winter semester in Provo. In Dec. I had two opportunities come my way. First, while delivering flowers in November of last year I stumbled upon a studio called Emerald Forest Studio in Springville, UT. I just was delivering flowers to the main desk lady and came inside, saw the studio title and asked what it is they did. She said they produced media for advertising on the web and other commercials etc. It actually didn't make too much sense but I though I'd just ask them if i could give them a resume and if they had any spots for me. Well a month later in Dec. they called me back and said that I could come work as an intern with them. Well this part of the story is kinda boring so i'll speed it up. I stayed with them till about the end of April and didn't plan on coming back. It wasn't the worst experience ever but it wasn't the best either. I was the very first intern they had had so I would show up and they wouldn't have anything for me to do for about 2 hours and the they would try and find something like capturing all this footage into the comp. That went on for a while until they gave me an assignment to go out and capture stock footage with their extra camera. Now this was actually quite fun because I hadn't had any experience with this difficult of a camera before so I had to do a lot of trial and error. The only problem is that they were bad at communication and never expressed the time that they wanted me back with this footage or whether they wanted me to continue logging my own hours or whatever. . . So ya that's it.

Ok so now I'll explain why the pics above are on here. Back in dec. I also had actually auditioned for an agency that a friend referred me to that's in Salt Lake. So I did and they gave me the job or spot or representation, whatever you would call it. The pics above were the head shots I got soon after for the website (urbantalent.com ) they have and for any auditions I go to. So anyway long story short since then I have done about 6 or 7 auditions for really nerdy lds or Disney productions, one offer to be barney at a kids birthday party, two commercial job offers for which I was out of town on, and not one successfully paid job. So ya we'll see. The agent who is really nice only calls me up about once every month maybe and says he has an audition the night before and then sends me the script the morning before so that I have the car ride up in the morning to look at it. Lame!!!!! He actually just called me up about a week ago and said he entered me into a role that would require me to go to Prague, so that would be sweet but I won't get my hopes up. It would just be nice to get one job through them at least one!!! I did do a commercial back in Feb. with the emerald forest studios and It was for an online poker game. I actually was a WWII soldier with a southern accent. The pics of the commercial wouldn't work on here so sorry about that. Anyway ya that's just a little about what I've been up to. I know I'm not the most exciting writer, hopefully I'll get more entertaining as time goes by.

27. How are you today? Ummm just okay, nothing really exciting today but nothing really bad either. I get to mow the lawn today, yay!!!!!!

28. What is your favorite candy? I absolutely love those sour belts(apple and strawberry) that you can usually only get in those expensive candy stores where you weigh the bags and each ounce is a buttload of $. Basically any candy that is apple flavored

29. What is your favorite flower? I think I just realized that this is a girl questionaire. But if you must know I think Stargazer lillies smell amazing

30. What is a day on the calendar you are looking forward to? August 20th, it's when I get to see Radiohead live in Washington.

40. What is your favorite restaurant? I have lots, but it would be a toss up between Cheescake Factory, Cafe Rio, and The Rheinlander in Portland, depends on what I'm in the mood for.

42. What was your favorite toy as a child? I loved all the star wars toys, TMNT toys and The pirates and medieval Legos

43. Summer or winter? Both, a shorter winter in Utah and a longer summer in OR

48. When was the last time you cried? about a month ago. But it was the first in probably a year or more, not including teary eyes in movies ha ha. Girls don't tell any of the brothers about this!!

Welcome everyone to my post. As you can see I have nothing on here so stay tuned for upcoming attractions??? anywhoo I actually just got back to Oregon yesterday and it's of course absolutely beautiful here, of course. I'm actually here for 2 months until I go back to Provo Utah to work have fun and get an online school class basically done. I'm new to this posting thing so I will be getting more creative soon.
